Although we have no evidence that Mina Loy and Georgia Douglas Johnson met or influenced one another directly, both were groundbreaking, women writers whose work coincided in time and space. Both were published early in the 20th century in New York-based magazines, Johnson in The Crisis and Loy in Rogue, Others, and The Dial. This timeline of Georgia Douglas Johnson’s life is part of the larger project, Women with Voice: Mina Loy and Georgia Douglas Johnson, which aims to emphasize connections between modernism and the Harlem Renaissance through these and other key figures of the period.
